My PC is set to pull all info from the router. Then on my PC I did an ipconfig /release, an ipconfig /flushdns, and an ipconfig /renew to make sure everything on the PC was fresh. I had the Google Public DNS servers in there, so I flipped my router back to use my ISP servers. I was able to finally get around the issue by modifying the DNS servers at the router level. I switched over to the Steam client as per an earlier suggestion, and that seemed to try to download a different set of patches, but I had the same issue.

I ran into this same issue on patch H2014.0000a, around 550 MB downloaded or so. In the interim I had reformatted my HDD, so I had to reinstall FF XIV from scratch. The error appeared at random points near 470MB. The error message was 'Unable to download patch files. I was unable to download patch h2014.0000g. This post will hopefully save time for anyone that has this problem now or in the future. This is not an issue I have presently but is a record of a solution that worked for me, today, for future searchers.

The only thing I've had similar to this is when a new patch is available but the launcher doesn't update so when I login it fails the version check.
